Dvě Katherine, dva příběhy, prakticky stejný osud. Z počátku se může shoda jmen "hlavních hrdinek" zdát matoucí, ale už jen to, že kapitoly Katherine Plantagenetové jsou psány er-formou, zatímco Katherine Greyová píše svůj deník z pohledu svého, je brzy jasně oddělí. Knihy Weirové mě myslím nikdy neomrzí. Státnické záležitosti, milostná dramata, realistické pojetí svázané v poutavých příbězích sestavených z co nejvíce sehnatelných pramenů té které doby. Dokonce i poznámky v závěru knihy, které mají upřesnit poslední historické nejasnosti a uvést věci na pravou míru, se čtou snadno. Takhle by se měl učit dějepis!(Snad jediné, co mne trochu mrzí, jsou některé překlady jmen. Buď ať jsou všechny Katherine Katherine, nebo Kateřiny a Jane ať jsou všechny buď Jane, nebo Jany. Ale míchat to je poměrně podivné.) I wanted to like this book. Unfortunately it fell flat for me. I think the biggest problem was that I couldn't really get into the story because there was so much historical information to keep track of...all of which would have been fine if I only had to hold on to one time period with one set of characters. However, there were two (ultimately somewhat connected) story lines set in time periods that weren't so distant from each other, one told by Kate and the other by Katherine (as if it wasn't hard enough to keep track of all the English royalty and various changing loyalties and so on!). I actually think I would have enjoyed this work more and gotten more out of it if the two stories were totally separate volumes.

Very good book about two royal women - daughter of Richard III and cousin of Elizabeth 1.

Katherine Grey's story was much more interesting then Katherine Plantagenet

I enjoy historical fiction, but this book did not hold my interest.
