A Deadly Wandering Low Price CD: A Tale Of Tragedy And Redemption In The Age Of Attention (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I gave this one up and I did not finish it for a few reasons:Chapter 1/Page 11: The whole religious Mormom thing and coming home early from the mission and disgracing his family, because he confessed to having sex with his girlfriend. As the parents drove their son home from the mission, the father cried quietly and Mary Jane sobbed. Come on....really? The Neuroscientists chapters. There are 9 of them. Okay, we get it that the brain has issues with multi-tasking and attention, but after 2 Neurosciences chapters, I wasn't suffering through 7 more of them. I had high hopes for this book, but this was not for me. This book has fundamentally changed the way I think about my iPhone and Social Media, in general. I have removed all notifications other than texts and phone calls from what I receive and I will never again even think about looking at my phone while driving. I had already decided not to text while driving, but this changes everything. Humans are incapable of multi-tasking and I have seen numerous examples of people being distracted by their cell phones while driving while I was a driver or passenger in a car. IF you see someone weaving, not being able to keep to their lane, chances are it's their phone not alcohol. Read this book. If it doesn't change you, well . . . I worry about humankind.
