I normally like LMR but this one bored me to tears. I love contemporary romance and love cops/detectives but this one had my eyes rolling. The descriptions of the hero got a bit lengthy - yes we get he's an alpha male but comparing him to a wolf pack and constantly talking about he's the king of the pile was a bit much. Almost like the reader didn't know what an alpha male is. Then we get into her internal dialog which was also a bit much. She was always talking and comparing and putting herself down. He also had a bit too much internal dialog. Ugggggg! The sex scenes were fine but I agree with the other reviews, I didn't care for how much they used the word c*nt. Also if you believe that some women have (what I like to call) the golden p*ssy, our heroine has one. No man can refuse her and our hero is brought to his knees by it. Anywho, honestly I couldn't stop rolling my eyes or laughing out loud at times due to the cheese that was dripping off this novel and I'm a romance super reader. Lieutenant Alex Cruz sole focus is his job, every waking moment he spends solving cases and trying to bring a local crime figure. The last thing he needs, now that a snitch is in his grasp, is a young woman who is planning her dissertation and needs tiem in the cop shop doing research. From the first moment he sees Caitlin Summers he has an itch that needs scratched, she is bright, beautiful, and clumsy. Not one to mince words, Alex decides the best way to show her how he feels is in bed, or the kitchen, or wherever else works as long as she is in the room.Pretty good story, dragged a bit in the beginning but picked up momentum as the story progressed. There were a couple pleasant surprises in the story that caught me off guard. 3.5.
What do You think about A Fine Specimen (2009)?
LMR does it again for me. Loved Alex. What a great hero!
