This was free for kindle, so my expectations were not too high. Turned out to be a good, casual read. There seemed to be too much going on, too many side stories thrown in. This seems to be the curse of the "first in the series": a need to get all the background set up. It will probably become relevant in later stories, but I didn't like this enough to follow up. Also, can we get an editor on this? I've certainly read worse, but there were still numerous grammatical errors. Nurse turned part time detective, following in her retired police Dad's footsteps. Knock-off Stephanie Plum, although she doesn't get into the tangles that Plum does... This first instalment finds her investigating what looks to be the murder of a close family friend, while her parents are away on a cruise. Does get overdone with how much she looks like Marilyn Monroe. Don't think it grabbed me enough to read another... Think I'll still stick with Stephanie.
What do You think about A Good Man Gone (2000)?
I am not much of a crime novel reader, but this was light and fun. Perfect for the beach!
