I'm not at all into anything gangster or Mafia, so I wasn't sure how I was going to enjoy this. It starts off as any other gangster novel - young upstart catches the eye of a kingpin, and is given a position in his organisation. But that's where the similarity ends. This is no ordinary city and very strange things happen here. Who is Capac Raimi and where did he come from? Why do people seem to have an issue with amnesia? The twists are great, but the climax becomes a bit of an anti-climax. Still, a good enough story. I really liked this one. I have read Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak series and was really impressed with it, so I decided to give his adult novel a try (it's actually the first in a trilogy), and I must say I really enjoy his work. This one doesn't really feel like dark fantasy until close to the end, more like a crime mystery. None the less, it kept me enthralled all the way to the end. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.
What do You think about A Holtak Vonulása (2010)?
Wow! What a story... roller coaster of events in this futuristic world.
