A Menina Na Falésia (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

The Midnight Rose was the first Lucinda Riley book I read and I gave it 5 stars, it was absolutely magical and I felt I was living in the story! With The Girl on the Cliff however, I felt like some of the story lines were not developed properly. For example, the reason for Grania leaving New York I felt was an anticlimax and not very believable. There were too many characters and not enough depth to each, I found it quite complex in the middle, and even the author felt the same as she provided a family tree half way through. This book .... I don't even know where to start. Its almost 600 pages - but that didn't stop me from finishing the book in less than two days. I don't know what to write,, honestly. This book is so fascinating and .. Beautiful! All the sorrow, loss, sadness...the book is filled with it. You get so surprised by the fact that it just gets more and more sad - and despite all the love that is in this book, despite all the heartwarming love ... I just can't get over all the sadness. The ending is probably the worst and most shocking thing ever, yet it is the best ending that could have been made for the book. As you can hear I am a wreck. I love this book so so so so much and I don't think I can write a review without spoiling everything. It really is one of the best books I have read in my life. Truly amazing and wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it and I really recommend this book to everyone!! One word: WOW And it's the good kind of 'wow'. The one where your mouth is as wide open as your eyes and you just can't believe what you've just witnessed(read) because it truly is so amazing and beautiful and wonderful, yet so shocking and surprising! I am going to read this book again sometime - I can feel it. And I can't wait..
