A Million Little Ways: Uncover The Art You Were Made To Live (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I'll be honest: I can only take so much "inspiration speak" without feeling like I'm being cheerleaded to. (Cheer-led? You know what I mean.) So I was a little leery of the tone of this book, which gives beautiful rhetoric a work-out. (I'm not against that kind of writing, as it's precisely what some people need--just not me.) To my slight surprise and immense delight, there's a lot more than cheerleading in this book. There's common sense, practical advice, and good, solid substance. This is an essential book for artists to read, but more than that, it's important for anyone who wants to live their life as a work of art (which should be, you know, everyone). Seriously amazing. One of the best books I've read in 2014. I love her writing voice and love her perspective. Can't wait to read more from Emily Freeman! And you don't have to be labeled "creative" to get a ton from this book...her premise is that we are made in God's image created to make art...but that are is doing anything intentional and beautiful...that includes how someone waits on tables, how another one parents...wonder if I'll read this book again in 2015 it was so good.
