A cute mystery, not particularly compelling, but an easy read. The book category was listed as "women sleuths", except the detective is a guy, not a gal - no female sleuthing going on here. The main female character's ex-boyfriend is killed. The police detective is a hottie, and she falls for him. Who woulda thunk it? Is this a "kissing book"? No, it's a multiple murder mystery. We see the gloating over the murders through the murderer's thought processes. The clues dropped lead us to the obvious suspect, or is it that person, or perhaps another of the several characters. The writer does a pretty decent job of describing the relationship of dogs and their human 'moms' or 'dads', and of course the dogs, play a pivotal roll in solving the mystery. A cute little "whodunit." Not much brain power needed. I think I liked it mostly because the author set her story around a dog park and anyone that has taken their own "fido" to one can relate. Gritting my teeth because story does not get resolved and I don't really care to buy the next book (tricky ploy by author to make reader purchase two books). Think I'll just go with my gut and pretend I know who the killer is.
What do You think about A Shot In The Bark (2011)?
Fun weekend mystery...good plot and characters + a surprize ending. Gotta love the dogs!
