A Study In Sherlock: Stories Inspired By The Holmes Canon (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

A collection of light, mostly enjoyable stories inspired by Sherlock Holmes. Some are new stories with the Sherlock Holmes characters. Some are retellings of Sherlock mysteries with new characters. Others step even further from the originals. As with all short story collections, the quality of the writing varies widely. I found a couple authors to put on my list to seek out and a couple to put on my list to avoid. I have never read the entire Sherlock Canon, but I enjoyed these Sherlock inspired stories. Some were written in the style of Sherlock's novels and stories. Others were written with the original characters in a new story. The works from all the writers are inventive, but my favorite are the ones with the original characters and the original settings. Those stories are my favorite. It's like finding a new novel from an old author. The one I enjoyed the most is Margaret Moron's "The Adventure of the Concert Pianist.
