This is the story of Liz who got divorced a year ago after her husband left her for a younger woman. Her live turns upside down when she discovers that there is gypsy blood running in her veins and that she possesses magic. It happens accidentally on her 35th birthday and she tries to figure out how to control and use the new abilities.Instead of using these powers for her own good, she thinks about her friends and tries to make things easier for them. She has to learn that when you are not absolutely clear with what you want, it can backfire and this results in even more baking. The gift of magic came to her at a turning point in her life and helped get her self-confidence back, finding her strength again and leaving the past behind. It is a nice easy-to-read story, with lots of quite funny moments in it, which don't make it boring. Reading about all the wonderful baking that Liz made, as this is how her power works best, it constantly made me look for my stash of sweets and cookies. It reminded me all the time a little of Bridget Jones. Erst einmal, es handelt sich NICHT um einen Fantasyroman, sondern um einen Liebesroman mit einer Prise Magie. Die Heldin Elizabeth, eine Konditorin und Besitzerin der Bäckerei "A Taste of Magic", bekommt von ihrer Oma ihr magisches Talent vererbt und richtet erst einmal eine Menge Chaos in ihrem Leben und dem Leben ihrer Freunde an, bis sie lernt mit ihrer neuen Gabe umzugehen. Die Geschichte ist unterhaltsam geschrieben und man kann sich gut in die Hauptfigur hineinversetzen, die an ihrem 35. Geburtstag beschließt, sich an ihrem Exmann zu rächen, der sie vor genau einem Jahr sitzen gelassen hat und nun seine schwangere Geliebte heiratet, mit der er Elizabeth betrogen hat. Zu allem Überfluss soll Elizabeth nun auch noch die Hochzeitstorte backen. Die Magie und das magische Erbe der Zigeuner ist eine nette Idee und dient als Katalysator, um Elizabeth erkennen zu lassen, was sie wirklich will und um ihr einen Neuanfang nach der Scheidung zu ermöglichen. Sie hätte es aber sicher auch ohne Magie geschafft.Daher ein netter Liebesroman für zwischendurch.
