A Todos Los Chicos De Los Que Me Enamoré (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
This novel has a good 80's feel to it, kind of like the movie Some Kind of Wonderful or Can't Buy Me Love. It also has a distinctly nostalgic feel about sisters who are close and a doting, widowed dad. Lara Jean is in love, or what she thinks is love. The trouble is the object of her affection is off limits. When a box of secret letters she has written to her crushes ends up being mailed, she has to act fast to save face, inventing a fake relationship with a boy she's known forever. He finds it mutually beneficial as he's recently been dumped and is looking to save face too. So they draw up a contract but neither expects the end results of their deception. Mentions of underage drinking and sex, but the protagonist is pretty wholesome. I thought it was sweet. And Han writes teenage girls spot on with their tendency to react first and question later. This was such an enjoyable read. As always, Jenny Han's writing is so simple and easy to keep reading. I really appreciated the family dynamic present, though I wish we got to know the father more. His character popped in too often for us to not know very much about him by the end of the story. Unlike the 'Summer' series, Han shows us a turbulent time in this family's life without the added drama of siblings choosing supposed "true love" over their family. Lara Jean is a great narrator, full of quirky charm and hilarious thought processes. She truly cares about keeping her family together and staying close to her sisters. While it wasn't perfect, it was so entertaining. I was surprised by how often I kept laughing as the story went on. I'm very excited to read how Lara Jean navigates friendships, family dynamics, and love.
What do You think about A Todos Los Chicos De Los Que Me Enamoré (2014)?
I love this book.. I read it so quickly and couldn't put it down. Finished it at like 4 in the morning.. and low and behold... CLIFF HANGER... ugh... But there was a lot keeping me interested. And now I have wait 6 months to find out who she gets with! AHHHHHHH!.... Its killing me. I like Peter but the dude has a got a lot of growing up to do.. and Josh just needs to get over both Song girls and move on. And then of course there is John which no one has any clue about.. but should make an appearance in the next book...

I honestly was loving this book. Until the end. This book had no ending whatsoever, which was really frustrating. I was on the edge of my seat, but that end was so angering, I put the book in my shelf never to be read again (okay maybe I'm exaggerating). The character had no development, no change. And she was kinda dumb. I give this book 4 stars. Only because I loved all of it except the end.

Just one of those fun contemporary romances that I love.
