This translation from the original Italian was excellent. The author is a (former?) prosecuting lawyer in southern Italy, as is his character, who lives and works in the city of Bari. I love the crime and mystery genre, and have an especially soft spot for Italian mysteries, by Italians or by any other nationalities. (And Greek crime novels, and Spanish, and French, and ... .) This one is a standout. The characters and plot are original, the lawyer's personal relationships unexpectedly interesting, and I will definitely be on the lookout for other books by this author. Secondo libro con protagonista l'avvocato Guerrieri, ma, dei quattro, è il migliore come trama: in questo episodio vengono trattati i vergognosi problemi della violenza domestica, degli abusi sui bambini e dello stalking. I personaggi sono molto ben caratterizzati ed è reso molto bene il senso di impotenza che Guerrieri prova (e che proviamo tutti) di fronte ad una giustizia mai abbastanza efficace nel proteggere i più deboli. E' un bel romanzo, scorrevole e coinvolgente, con una vena malinconica, nostalgica, ma anche ironica che caratterizza come sempre il protagonista
