What if Darcy realizes that Elizabeth hears his "not handsome enough to tempt me" comment and apologizes for it? Would they fall in love quicker and with less angst and misunderstandings? Well maybe but not quite…In this P&P what if Ms Simonsen explores a new path for our favorite couple that involves Lizzy and Darcy understanding each other better but being hampered in other ways (Darcy is courting someone else!!). Add in well meaning but sometimes misguided matchmakers in Georgiana, Col Fitzwilliam, and a few original characters and any fan of Austen Variations is in for a delightful treat. I thoroughly enjoyed this "what-if" Pride and Prejudice variation. I really enjoyed the story-telling and the plot developments and changes. The original characters (on the Darcys side, not the Bingleys) were fun to read. I really liked the idea that Darcy was "entangled" in a courtship when he developed a particular regard for Elizabeth. In terms of constructive criticism, I found now-and-then, usage of more "modern" terms and forms of speech. The only other thing, which I can't lodge as a complaint, was Georgiana's bold character change. She is by no means the shy girl we know in the original story. It was noticeable, but not unenjoyable. A great read! I look forward to reading more of Simonsen's works!
What do You think about A Wife For Mr. Darcy (2011)?
i got bored... the story changed too much from the original. It was like reading bad Fan Fic.

Too much liberality with the plot and characters for my taste.
