A Year Of Writing Dangerously: 365 Days Of Inspiration And Encouragement (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This is an excellent book. It was both humorous and helpful. It made you feel good about the things that you think and go through as a writer. As a writer, I felt like she understood the issues I have with writing. She addressed real topics and put in examples from her own life as well as some from the lives of famous writers. I recommend this book to any writers in any stage of their writing careers, amateurs and professinals alike. I'm not sure this book was written with the idea of reading it straight through, but it's so entertaining, that's the way I'm doing it. Plus, the copy I have is borrowed, so unfortunately, I know I have to return it soon. Which is too bad, because it is just what it bills itself as -- inspiring, with nuts and bolts solutions to get you going. And, at the end of every page (and each page contains a message for the day) is a quote from a writer. One that particularly sticks with me, and helped me get this review out today, was from Anne LaMott -- "Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life, and it is the main obstacle between you and a shitty first draft. "

Found it to be very inspirational however I was disappointed in the writing prompts at the end.
