Reviewed by AubreyBook provided by NetGalley for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookI adore books about cowboys. I do not know if it is because I’m a city girl longing to live out in the country or what. I really liked this novel. It was super sweet and the characters had depth and dimension. I could really relate to Kyla in that I hope to find my forever love in a cowboy or farmer. Kyla comes to Montana with a bunch of baggage. She is scared of life in a way after trusting her ex-fiancé who ended up being a con artist. Her best friends take her on vacation in the hopes that she can leave her past behind her and move on. Little does she know that she fall in love with Montana, Ma and Decker.Decker is one of the the cowboys in charge of the dude ranch. Decker like Kyla is a bit broken and back on the ranch that he grew up on. His past is full of skeletons that need to be explored and dealt with. Together they fight their feelings and learn to heal. At the same time a bunch of accidents keep happening to Kyla. An accidental cowgirl at the end but she certainly comes a long way from where she was when she first came onto the ranch. Kyla is a strong female that needed to realize that she wasn’t weak and what happened to her was not her fault. You really see how she comes to terms with what happened and how she falls for Decker. She really puts herself out there even though Marcy an ex-flame of Decker is out to sabotage the relationship.I really enjoyed this book. I loved Cole and Decker’s mother Ma. I liked how there was a lot of heartache but in the end there was a form of redemption. I will definitely read more by this author and would love to read Cole’s story. It was refreshing to read a novel where I was not able to guess what was going to happen next. The author did a great job at creating characters that you wanted to know more about and that you start to care about. I would have liked to learn more of a back story of Kyla’s best friend Hayley and Jess. I really hope there will be more books with these characters. Accidental Cowgirl” has that very familiar plot- - a city girl vacations on a Dude Ranch, falls for the oldest son, who of course, is still angry over his ex and has no plans to commit to any woman. In this book, the city girl, Kyla, is a very charming lady from Boston. She is still healing from both a failed relationship and a car accident. She is not looking for love until she meets the hot cowboy/owner/architect, Decker. In this type of plot, there is always a younger brother that is also a sexy cowboy and usually much wiser and nicer than the hero. That would be Cole, and he is a sweetie! The other common thread is a strong matriarch, and Ma certainly lives up to her billing. I found Ma to be caring and very sensible. Both Kyla and Decker have their secrets and realize a two week fling really isn’t in their best interest. They do their best to ignore their mutual attraction, but they are only human. Though, I have to say, their romance is not all about lust and sex, which is refreshing. Kyla is a unique heroine, as she is in a very fragile place in her life, and is trying her best to deal with past issues that have consumed her for the past year. What I liked best about her character is that she is very witty and has some of the best come backs for Decker. For the most part I enjoyed this book, but I had a hard time with all the obstacles and accidents that Kyla had to face while on the Dude Ranch. My gosh, the whole story took place within a two week period, and this girl had more difficulties than most people have in a life time. It got to be ridiculous, which negatively impacted the storyline. Over-all Rating 3.75
