I liked this quick read. I do wish to warn the author that she did not fully flesh out Chastity, the birth mother of Cassidy, the focus of the story. Yes she appeared numerous times in the story, but the author never showed her side of why she behaved like she did. I can understand using the character as the protagonist, but it would have been better to have made the reader understand the reason Chastity treated Cassidy as she did. The socio-economic situation Chastity was in before remarrying was never addressed, and would go a great deal in identifying why Chastity resented Cassidy. The author simply portrays Chastity as intrinsically evil, which is difficult to believe. Had she been finally vindicated as having done the best she could, but falling short, would have made the story more real and believable. I liked this book in the beginning but then it just went downhill. I kept reading, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. I would've rated this one star, but I liked the first half so much and her relationship with her dad and step-mom. But her relationship with her boyfriend was so toxic. I liked him at first, but then he changed so much and became this terrible person. All the while, she kept making excuses for his craziness and stayed with him because she was addicted to him. Really? Just ridiculous. I think both of them are mentally unstable. I feel like I wasted too much time even finishing this.
What do You think about Addicted To Him (2000)?
