Afloat (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

It was o.k. Not a fan of "Christian" fiction, but this book's story would stand alone as a fun read; likable characters; good guys good but flawed with doubts, bad guys not really EVIL- just greedy and power hungry. That saying, the descriptive writing is awkward bordering on bad; caught several just, MISTAKES in flow of narrative that you'da think a half way decent editor could have easily fixed to provide a smoother ride. O.k. Book for what it is-dog gets saved in the end, which, sentimental animal lover/sucker that I am, gets it the two stars instead of one. Not really recommended reading, but nice, uplifting story with inspirational parts that just make ya feel good. The plot is basically a 70s disaster movie (Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, etc) with a strong religious thread through it. The story moves along at a good pace and is never slow or boring. The characters have strong personalities with being caricatures. I did find the introspection a bit overdone, but that's just me. The religious theme is always there, but it doesn't dominate the story. As long as you aren't offended by the mere mention of God or Jesus, it shouldn't be a problem.

What do You think about Afloat (2013)?

Great for people who like God and Christiany things thrown in to a decent book. Not so great for me.
