The policeman sounds to be a loyal agent doing his job properly! In fact, while walking up and down the street, he knew it was his friend but may be at the beginning he was not sure and that’s why he ignored him…but later while he noticed ‘his friend’s tiepin was a large diamond oddly set’ and ‘a handsome watch, the lids of it set with diamonds’…a kind of envy arose ….than revenge started…..sending someone else to arrest his friend… All the words backstabbing, twisted, and mysterious all describe the book "After Twenty Years". When I first read this book it made me question myself, would I ever do something like that?This book is about two friends who made a committment when they were teenagers that in twenty years that day they would meet again in front of a theatre.Through the twenty years the two never heard from each other.Then twenty years later that day it was a rainy night one of the friends sat outside the theatre waiting for the other friend to arrive.About thirty minutes later a police officer walked up and asked the friend why he was waiting in the rain and he told him about the oath he and his friend took when they were twenty tears younger.Then the waiting friend lit a match to light a ciggerette, and the police officer caught a slight glimpse of the man waiting.Then the cop walked off.After about an hour the waiting friend walked away very dissapointed. He walked to a nearby store where he got arrested. A different police officer walked in and handed the friend a note which read "I was there at the appointed time twenty years later where we stood outside the theatre." The police officer standing withthe friend was the other friend noticed the face when he lit the match and recognized the face on a wanted poster for robbing a jewlery store.What I liked about this book was that it was exciting all throughout the begining through end.Also I liked the plot of the story.This was the only story I have ever read like this.The last thing is even though I didn't like what the police friend did he played it off good, and didn't give the criminal any hints that he was the friend.What I didn't like about the story was that the police friend turned his friend in I would not have done the same.That was the only thing I didn't like about the story.
