All I ever wanted, A book written by Vikki Wakefield. This book explains the hard life of a struggling 16 year old, Jemima Dodd. Who's life is restricted by a bunch of rules she has set for herself. She wants to leave, she wants to escape her love, hate, drama and betrayal filled life and family.Jemima Dodd is a 16 going onto 17. She believes that if any of her rules are broken her world would fall apart. But as she continues with her life each rule is slowest broken. Shaping her into the mature teen she needs to be.Major events shake her and break her, such as drug trafficking , having a single mum, both brothers being in jail and many dramas with her friends. But she manages to over come everything that life had thrown at her,She's pushed through all of the pain and hurt. She's become who she's wanted to be... She has become Mim, A strong, smart and caring girl that can and will do anything she puts her mind to. Raw, gutsy, beautiful writing. A novel that truly deserves to be called YA literature. Starts with a putative drug deal that goes wrong and snowballs. Look away if you can't handle under-age drinking, wife-beaters, thug-life, a near rape, bad language. Affirms that life isn't always tied up in neat little bows, but remains a life-affirming read. The best YA I've been privileged to read for a while.
