I have to say that I'm a bit torn in rating this book. It took me a good 50 pages before I finally got pulled into the story, and even then it was not as captivating as it could have been. I do want to like this novel, but there are several issues for me. First, I got hung up on a short, inconsequential sentence that left me doubting the author's writing... "Inside the bathroom she peed and splashed her face". I would rather my protagonist not splash her face with her urine. I know that's not what the author meant, but that is how it reads... Second, I find that the main character, Max, is not developed enough for me to connect with her like I usually do with main characters. I also find that some of the scenes are not as well written as the author meant them to be. I can see where she wanted to go with them, but they would have benefited from more details and better flow. I would have rated 2.5 stars if the system let me. This book had me wanting to read it, but it was too action packed for me personally. I thought Max was a little too withdrawn, and Alexander didn't have much of a personality. I read the whole book so I was intrigued, but not enough to give this book a stellar rating. With that said, I can see how people loved how action packed it was if that's your thing. I just wasn't crazy about that part of the book. I wanted more story. It made it impossible to really get to know the characters in my opinion. I'm debating wether I will read the next one. If I do, It might surprise me and be fantastic we shall see.
What do You think about Alliance Nocturne (2013)?
Good read. Looking forward to seeing the main character get more control.
