After seeing Victoria's offer for an ARC I decided to take her up on it. However, that meant reading It's Always Been You first. My opinion is that each book is a stand alone but when an author writes a series I try to read them in that order as there are usually some undercurrents flowing through each which tie them all together.I am really glad I took the time, it was not wasted. Beatrice Porter and Gabriel Sullivan will have you getting a little hot n bothered, not to mention laughing, cringing, and let's not forget crying (people at the coffee shop were very understanding when I explained why I had burst into tears! Thanks for that V). Now not to spoil things for you but, no sorry, just can't do it. If I start telling you about what I enjoyed you might decide you don't need to read the book. So carve out a little time in your busy schedule and enjoy. I know that I will get a highly developed and professionally written story when I read Ms. Paige's books and "Always Been Mine" is no exception. I enjoy "love" stories that start with a bit of angst and this one did not disappoint me. The story was a mix of romance, mystery, and action and was very character driven. Beatrice and Gabriel were perfectly matched as the h/H and enough background was given so that you understood (though might not always agree with) their actions and thoughts. Gabriel definitely has some demons in his past and he will have to work hard to convince Beatrice that he will be worth fighting for.The surrounding story is somewhat complicated (i.e. world politics & terrorism) but Ms. Paige does an excellent job in presenting it in a way that holds your interest and provides a level of believability in the way the story unfolds. Characters from past stories were expertly weaved into the plot and provided an opportunity to reconnect with favorite couples.Although an ARC was provided for an honest review, this will be a book I will be purchasing when released. Without hesitation, I can highly recommend this book and author.
