Review by Jenn4 StarsErica has been through a lot and is now in witness protection with Leo. In her new location she meets Slate. Slate is a heavy weight champion boxer. Slate at first just wants to help her since she is so fearful but it quickly turns to more.Among the Echoes has a dark graphic start, so be forewarned. While the first chapter is dark, it hooked me to the book. I felt a lot of different emotions while reading it. It had a good storyline. Although, I found in some parts of the book the pace was slow. But overall the pace of the book was okay. The chemistry between Erica and Slate was amazing. Slate was sexy but showed a very sweet side to Erica. I love the banter between Erica and Leo. Leo was a very intriguing character; I can’t wait to read his story. I give this book 4 stars. This story was absolutely fabulous! I'm trying to figure out why this is not part of the Wrecked and Ruined series ... but none the less - it was amazing. Erica Hill survived a horific ordeal but at what cost? Is being in Witness Protection and not allowing yourself to get close to anyone living? Slate Andrews makes it his mission the first moment he meets her to protect her from whomever has put this fear in her as well as to find the spark in her eye. Leo James has his own issues ... he is so messed up with what he "allowed" to happen to Erica and goes to any measure to protect her from herself and the enemy. Slate and Erica might be keeping secrets from each other but when the secrets come out .. will they survive knowing everything about the other or will going their seperate ways be better? This was a beautiful story about strength, finding yourself, and loving someone else beyond your own needs/desires. Slate Andrews said it best when he told Erica that everyone has scars - some wear theirs on the inside while others are visible. Aly Martinez has become one of my favorite authors.
