I knew it was all for show, but wearing nothing but a diamond ring was kind of a fantasy of mine. Not to mention the fact that a wild outlaw like Trent had just climbed off my body. That only made the fantasy feel more real. I sat up in bed and covered my chest. I just sat there, looking to the other side of the bed, wondering if Trent was going to sleep next to me now. That would imply more than what was there, right? It meant something to me though that he actually opened a little. I felt sorry for him that his old love took off because of the life. Not that I could blame her though. It had to be hard for a woman to want a normal life and career when her man was dodging police and bullets on a twenty-four-seven basis. I had no sense of normal though. Hell, naked in Trent’s bed, pretending to be engaged… that was normal for me.
