Anatomy For Runners: Unlocking Your Athletic Potential For Health, Speed, And Injury Prevention (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

In general, a very well written book. The author takes him time moving through the biomechanics of running, how to evaluate your form, gait, pace, etc., how to address deficiencies, and how to improve your overall running. I found it both interesting and informative, and have starting implementing some of the suggestions. The writing is somewhat informal, with few explicit footnotes for references (though they are all available at the end of the book). It is sorely lacking an index.Be aware it's 170 pages before you get to the first strength/balance/flexibility test, so if you're looking for something RIGHT NOW you'll need to be patient. He spends time explaining why and how the tests and exercises will help improve your running before throwing them at the reader. This book has changed my whole perspective on running and has given me an understanding of my biomechanics that has dispelled many running myths that I have held from my days of high school cross-country. I will be recommending this book to all runners. It is easy to read and easy to understand, plus it gives you a series of tests to assess your weaknesses and then supplies exercises to help better those weaknesses. Dr. Dicharry is an entertaining writer and you can tell he knows his stuff. Again, this is a great book and every person serious (or mildly interested in) about running should read it.
