ANGEL'S KISS (A Dark Angel's Novel) - Plot & Excerpts
After a few hours of sleep and a pot of coffee, I left Alan in bed and drove to B’s. I went on auto pilot, too lost in thought to notice my surroundings. If my dream last night really had been a memory, I needed to know what my mother had been trying to protect me from. The dream had been so vivid that I swore I could still smell her jasmine perfume. I’ve longed for a mother to share the moments of my life with. Now I felt raw and exposed. I could handle everything else that’s happened—the attack, my secret admirer, that crime scene—but that glimpse of my mother reopened a hole in me that hasn’t been filled even after all these years. It was such a dark time in our lives when mom died. My dad never recovered from the loss. There was always darkness in his eyes after the accident. He threw himself into work. We had a live-in nanny who was wonderful, but we still mourned the loss of our mother. And because of his grief, we lost a part of Dad, too.
