Apache (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

After watching helplessly as Mexican raiders brutally murder her little brother, fourteen-year-old Siki is filled with a desire for vengeance and chooses to turn away from a woman's path to become a warrior of her Apache tribe. Though some men, like envious Keste, wish to see Siki fail, she passes test after test, and her skills grow under the guidance of her tribe's greatest warrior, Golahka. But Keste begins to whisper about Siki's father's dishonorable death, and even as Siki earns her place among the warriors, she senses a dark secret in her past — one that will throw into doubt everything she knows. Taking readers on a sweeping and suspenseful journey through the nineteenth-century American Southwest, Tanya Landman draws on historical accounts to imagine the Black Mountain Apache as a tribe in a fight for survival against the devastating progress of nations.Siki is such an inspiration!!!! I fell in love with this book and devoured it in a few hours. It's a very passionate book about Siki in her life as an Apache and why she she becomes a warrior for her life path, instead of becoming a normal women in her tribe. I can't wait to read it again to see some of the powerful words of inspiration I skimmed over!! This story goes all the way back to when Native Americans were alive. This story is about the Black Mountain Apache tribe. There is a girl named Siki, who had seen her brother, Tahzi, brutally murdered by the Mexicans. The problem was that the Mexicans were supposed to their friends. Days after the attack the chief, Chodini, sends the greatest warrior, Golahka, out to ask other tribes to accompany the Apache as they seek vengeance back on the Mexicans. Later, Siki finds out she is actually a Mexican as well because of her Father. Siki marries Golahka, who gets killed in war, then goes to live with her father, forever.

What do You think about Apache (2000)?

I really enjoyed this. It is loosly based on a true story. Beware, some very violent scenes.
