At some point, after she fell asleep on the couch talking to the guys, she must have found the energy to take herself into the bedroom. Her sleep had been sound, and from the smile on her face, she must have had good dreams visit her, though she forgot what they might have been about. It was cold, and she had taken off the sweatshirt in favor of her big fur coat. The coat was comfortable to sleep in, her naked skin thrived beneath it, and it kept her warm in its embrace. Peaches and Cream had started the night sleeping at her side in bed. Later they had hopped off the bed. She had left the door to her room cracked open and Skipper had come inside to join her dogs, and they curled up by each other on the floor. When she woke up, it was still pitch black outside her window. The storm had picked up overnight. The wind was blowing stronger than it had before. The roar outside sounded like a hurricane was blowing through the mountains. The racket of the storm had disturbed her sleep early. She lay awake for a few minutes, getting her bearings and staring up at the shadow-covered ceiling.
