I was drawn to this book because of the online romance plotline ... but this book didn't really meet my expectations. For one thing, this novel is written in present tense, which made it a bit unusual, and something I had to get used to. But I liked the attraction between Alex and Kyla - "good boy" meets "bad girl." I could identify with the absence of a father in Kyla's life- she ended up working hard and protecting her mother after realizing she was making some totally self centered choices. The ending between her and Alex is beautiful in it's simplicity and is just perfect. However, I thought that this book was mostly only "okay" and it's not something I'm going to revisit again. The book, 'Are u 4 real?' by Sara Kadefors, was a great book in my opinion. It has romance in it which I just LOVE. The book is about two teenagers from California, Alex and Kyla. They met online and developed a really close relationship though in really life they are completely different from each other. Alex is a shy ballet dance, has never been in a relationship while Kyla is a pretty, outspoken, wild party girl. I liked the message that the author tried to get across, to be yourself and not let anyone stop you from being who you want to be. They both had very different lifestyles and when they met the y understood the world from each other's eyes. I really loved how even though they were opposites, they still feel in love together. Even though the book was originally a Swedish book, I had no problem at all with the english translation at all, I admire the work that was put into it for such great translation. The book does go a bit fast paced though with their relationship. I wish there could have been a bit more detail on their growing relationship, but it was still really good! This is a great book that any teenager can relate to because now-a-days we communicate online and by text instead of in person. To me it seemed really realistic because of how even I can relate with talking to friends online. I have heard that there is a movie based on it. It's called Sandor Slah Ida. I overall enjoyed this book very much, I really recommend people to read this book.
