"This entry into urban fantasy by Lori Handeland has a good plot and decent characters. There is some nice humor in it. That said, I cannot recommend it. The characterization is inconsistent and the themes, frankly, make me angry. How on earth am I supposed to enjoy a book where the heroine, Liz, gains power by having sex with men she doesn't really want to have sex with? Who puts up with men who do not take "no" for an answer? I lost all respect for Liz, and the way the author sets her up to collect powers by collecting sexual conquests makes me lose respect for the author too. Beyond that, the book is just ok." OH DEAR GOD THIS BOOK. I think I fell in love with a new series. No, I know I did. Liz is a new favorite character, Jimmy and Sawyer too. This book never left me wanting, except for MORE!!!!! I loved it, it was well written and well put together, the story progressed in a logical concise fashion that had me itching to turn pages faster so I could figure out what would happen next. I am definitely reading the second one, if the little peek of it is anything like the rest of the book, I know it will be as good, or even better, than the first!!!!
What do You think about Asche (2009)?
Fun read with headlong action and engaging characters.
