Aunt Dimity And The Family Tree (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
This episode in Finch was a little different, in that there really was a crime to be solved. In this story Lori, our intrepid detective, is looking for several things, but again is on her own, with only her instincts and nose for trouble helping her out. Unfortunately her nose might smell trouble but her brain is of little use in determining the source, so she calls in Aunt Dimity, who is also befuddled. This light romp in romance, where Sally took a sea trip and found an interesting foreign gentleman, then enticed him home, is cut and funny and all too improbable in the real world. However, it works in Finch. Everyone gets in on the act, and in the end, of course, all works out. Seeing Willis, Sr. move into his new home with all its attendant and not so expected problems is hilarious. I enjoyed Sally's plight and its resolution, Bree has some presence so the reader can see how she is managing in Finch, and Rainey is back. I am looking forward to more about Augusta. She is a fitting replacement for the Pym sisters and I hope she won't disappear too soon. Lots of fun and action, although Will and Rob got palmed off on Nell and Kit a bit too often, but the few innings they did get were priceless. And Kit showing up in the barn while Lori is asleep on stake-out was also priceless. There are some great scenes in this book.
