Larissa Ione has a way of making me love everything she writes. Of course, I have yet to read the Moonbound books, but I'm working on it. I've read all the Demonica/LoD books, and let me say, Azagoth is NOT a let down. I don't know how she does it, but each book just seems to get better and better, and this one is no exception. The only thing I can say is that I wish it was longer, but what'cha gonna do?I really can't wait for Revenant and (swoons) Hades. The Grim Reaper meets his match! This is a novella in the Demonica series that can be read as a stand-alone, that’s what this reader did and had no problems following the intricacies of the paranormal world the author has created.Azagoth is an angel who took on the role of Grim Reaper, a role that has changed him. You cannot be around evil souls for so long without having it taint you and it shows in the decay of the realm around him. In all my imaginings I never would have thought that the “Grim Reaper” would be such an intriguing and sexy man with an inner streak of playfulness and tenderness in addition to his tough alpha deadliness. But for all his power Azagoth is lonesome, a soul in need of companionship, so he tries to get it and lucks out.Lilliana is an angel who can travel through time and space. She has an attitude and does what’s right more than politically correct which has gotten her in trouble on occasion. She is now called to pay for her sins that she doesn’t think are sins by being given a choice: become Azagoth’s mate for all time or be time lobotomized but there is an out if she betrays him. She’s a sassy warrior angel who as much as she is attracted to Azagoth she stands up to him. I do like strong heroines who make up their own minds about things, not just accepting their fate but keeping an open mind and in this case Lilianna finds that her fate is what she really wants. Actions speak louder than words and it is Azagoth’s actions that just add to his attractiveness to Liliana. He has a good heart embedded within all of his darkness. The give and take between these two was quite enjoyable. I loved it and I loved them. They made the perfect pair of not so angelic lovers and their chemistry was palpable as were the emotions portrayed. The trips taken through the chronoglass were so damn amusing and they resulted in the awakening of feelings Azagoth had long forgotten, some good and some bad but feelings too long denied and whose depth amazed Liliana. This series just moved up on my TBR listing.
