So many people think Army Wives is how military families really live. I think this book shows a more accurate rendition of life in the military. I liked this book, it showcases how women deal with things in life, but also "assume" they are required to be a certain way and do the proper thing. It shows how many of those traits are applauded, while in reality, it segregates them and creates walls that are difficult to break down. I loved how the women became strong friends and helped to start break down those hidden walls. Can't wait to read the next one! I loved this book SO much! Being a military wife I could relate to each woman and what they were going through. I laughed and cried through the whole book and felt like I knew each one personally. They are not just a few LDS women who have something in common, but they are a "Band of Sisters". Each week they meet for lunch and grow closer together while their husbands serve together in Afghanistan. They help with trials, joys and heartache while all are waiting for the day their husbands come home. Through out the book the women quote "They just don't get it" and all military wives will learn to know what that phrase means and that each day you take a deep breath and just push on. Cant wait to read the sequel Coming Home!!
Review coming soon on my blog. I can say though, this was a wonderful book; a very emotional read.
