I was really excited about reading this book to my 2-year-old. First, to get him excited about potty-training and wearing underwear, and secondly, because he loves animals and the illustrations were just TOO CUTE! Here's what I did not like: This book is peer pressure at it's worst and it uses some words that I would not use with my toddler (like "lame" and "dorky") or, for that matter, want him to hear. I would like to think that he should be a little bit older before using words like this. The whole premise of the book is that the bear finds a backpack and decides to take it with him (what? why? Doesn't it probably belong to someone?). Then all of his friends pressure him into opening the backpack (even though he's not sure that he wants to do it) and then pressure him into trying on the underwear that's in the backpack. I don't know... maybe I'm being too critical of a children's book, but I won't be reading it to my toddler again. Once was enough. This book is silly and giggle inspiring. The thing is, parents, teachers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents are adults. We read a lot into things because we have the experience of life. And it's our job to make sure children don't go around trying on the random backpacks full of underwear they run into on a daily basis. The book is harmless, and makes every child I have given it to dissolve into fits of laughter. The same kind of laughter that is a result of saying, "A B C D E F Butt."The pictures are fun to look at, and the story is great to read out loud; with every opportunity to make silly voices for Bear's friends. The stuffed animal of bear in tighty whities that is now available is a perfect companion. For those who are concerned for the lessons it teaches/ lacks. The book is just for fun, and if anything could be a jumping off point for talking to your kids about what Bear did wrong.I love this book. Kids love this book.
What do You think about Bear In Underwear (2010)?
Cute kids book, probably not one I would add to my collection though.

Silly pictures and fun, but really the story makes very little sense.
