I rub my eyes before picking it up to make sure it’s the right time. For assuming I wouldn’t be able to sleep through the night, I’m surprised to find I didn’t wake up once. I sit up in bed and look around. The sun isn’t up yet. I’m not used to this, but it’s only a small part of the changes I’m making to my life. Once I’m dressed I head downstairs and find my dad standing in the kitchen. He’s got two bottles of water sitting on the counter, and he’s stretching out his arms. “It’s about time you got up. I thought you might have changed your mind.” I conjure up the best laugh I’m able to give for this time of morning. “Fat chance. We’re doing this. Rain or shine, for as long as possible. I’m not going to quit until I have the results I’m looking for, Dad.”“Good. I’m glad to hear you’re so determined. It’s about time you’re doing something for yourself.” This makes me happy.
