Behind The Scenes At Downton Abbey (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
This is a most enjoyable book for Downton fans such as I. There were new things to learn about the actors, sets, crews, clothes, etc. with a lot of wonderful photographs. I didn't fully appreciate the detail that goes into every aspect of the series until I read this book. When Season 5 begins in 2015, I'll have a whole new respect for everything that goes into making Downton Abbey the exceptional program that it is. I'm not going to lie. I work at the library and when I saw this book come in with some new stuff, I pulled it right off the shelving cart and set it aside with the intent of just flipping through it and putting it back before I left work. But then I started reading it...and took it home, where I spent the better part of the evening reading the entire book. I've loved Downton Abbey since season 1 and this was a great companion book. Loads of great little features on the various processes involved in making the show: costuming, music/score, props, scripts, sets, and so much more. Plus it's full of tons of great behind the scenes photos. Anyone who loves Downton will enjoy looking through it. A warning though for those who have not seen season 3, there are some spoilers, since this book is so recent and most of the writing seems to have been done throughout filming of season 4.
