The beginning was reallllly hard to get through. It felt mindless and fluffy. I found myself seriously irritated with some of the early plot, and ohmygoodness the spelling and grammar errors. There were a lot of subtler ones, but some of them were so glaring that some editor out there needs to find a new career path... From someone who has REALLY good taste in YA fiction, I was hoping for better material. It did pick up toward the end, but it took way too long to get there. Disappointed, but will give the sequel a shot. This review may be considered slightly biased, as I've been a huge fan of Elle and Blair's for years and thoroughly enjoy their Youtube videos. I went into the book knowing it was loosely based off their lives and excited that I would get a peek into what it is possibly like for them in LA. Looking at it from that perspective, this book earned five stars! I can agree with some people that the grammar and writing isn't the best at times, but it's definitely how Elle and Blair would talk if they were telling you the story. I read this book hearing Elle and Blair's voices in my head narrating, which is what made it so enjoyable! If you just looked at it like just a regular book, then I could see where it would throw you off. But, I loved the plot line and found it to probably be very realistic to their lives. I loved the LonDO'S and LonDON'TS. They were cute and added quite a bit to the plot! I also loved that Elle managed to slip in a reference to her Chanel No. 5. So, overall, I loved this book. Is it perfect? No, but it's still amazing. I can't wait to read the next one!
What do You think about Beneath The Glitter (2012)?
Cute, easy read. Not particularly inspiring or...great, but not terrible, either.
