Far too potent a combination for her to resist even though she’d known better than to give in to his kisses. Even drugged by his touch, she’d recognized the point where she’d chosen to place desire above her common sense. She’d complicated both their lives in the process. Even sleepy and sated and more content than she’d ever felt in her life, she still possessed enough clarity of thought to understand the problems. All of them, and there were a bunch. The biggest was that she’d repaid this man’s kindness with deception. He’d been thoughtful and she’d lied about who she was and why she’d become his assistant. And she couldn’t even feel guilty. She was doing her job. Penance might have made her feel better, but she just got to feel horrible for deceiving him. Rex affected her like she’d never been affected before and her need was so singular that she couldn’t have resisted if her life depended had on it. Desperation. That’s what this was. She should be humiliated but all she could think about was how his hard body molded around hers, how her muscles ached with a delicious feeling she’d never known before.
