Beyond Control (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

3.5 stars for me. Sure wish I could give it the other 1/2. I have to say, I liked the end of this book alot more than the beginning. I really love some great sex scenes, and she sure can write them. But honestly, the plot is so good, I want more of it. So, the to me was great, the beginning, a little to long. I will most likely read the next book. As I want to find out what happens in all the sectors. but it is not something I have to read right now. If I were a cool kid, this would be where I'd use a gif. Something that said "WHAT JUST HAPPENEND HERE!?", or that cutsey little one with the slow camera shot focusing on Bert as he looks up from his book. Or maybe one of those squeeing ones with fireworks and over-eager displays of emotion. Or maybe...I don't know. I just don't get what the hell was happening between Dallas and Lex for the ENTIRE book. He wants her, but doesn't want to destroy her, but wants her to have his marks, but wants her to be essential Lex (whatever that really means, like she can't kick ass if she's in a relationship?), but, but, but...And Lex, well, she loves Dallas, but can't let him control her, but then at the end, it's all about Dallas putting her before everything and everoyone else (mmmkay, left field), but that's impossible since so many lives depend on him, but it's really about power and the power struggle in their relationship. Is there one?I have realized that I am a very literal person. You need to spell the angst out for me people, or I get really confused. Like, have a conversation with me at least, even if you can't talk to your guy/girl/whatever, then I can be all indignant with you. Whatever. I still freaking loved the stupid book, even though I had to walk away from it for a bit because, omg the angst, and really, I'm too old for that shit. (see the language here, the book made me do it) I have long learned that if I need something from my husband, I better tell him since he is not a mind reader. But I guess that's the trick, right? Finding someone who is willing to listen to you when you express your needs. The freaking brillance is that they cover up all that stupid stuff with really hot sex and great world building. This is not for the faint of heart, but it's, uhmmm, exciting. And, this seems like a good place to put this observation (though it's obvious to most). It is HARD to write a good sex scene. Extremely difficult. Not just one that will appeal to masses of people, but one with enough emotion and tension that it feels plausible. Some of my favorite authors can't write 'love' scenes as well as these two people have done.

What do You think about Beyond Control (2013)?

New sort of arrangement for a relationship, characters well defined and the ideas great.
