I am a huge fan of this book. Huge fan. The pacing was good, dialogue great, storyline interesting and intricate.Cyani is a soldier sent out to war as punishment for a crime she committed on her home planet in self defense. She's on the last mission required of her before she can go back home. And of course, this mission -- to rescue some "good guy" prisoners -- goes awry when she learns there is an unexpected prisoner in the same compound. Soren.His part of the story (the hormone generated in the presence of a mate) could have been horribly cheesy and poorly done, but I think it was handled nicely. None of this purely porn stuff where he goes rutting after anything/everything with girl parts.Overall, I'm a huge fan. Definitely interested in getting the hard copy of this book to put on my shelves. Definite re-read. Definite recommendation.a 3.5/5; 4 stars; B+Jess Granger is a new author for me. I heard about this book on one of the sci-fi/romance groups here on GR. I enjoyed the science fiction aspect of the book very much, as well as the characters. The only things that took away some of the enjoyment for me was Cyani's over the top self torture for the sake of duty. I liked the character of her brother and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I consider Jess a net-friend, so my rating is not precisely unbiased. {Smile}
