I just couldn't get past how much I disliked the heroine. She was vaguely likable in The Mane Attraction, but not at all after that. While I do love that Shelly Laurenston's characters have consistent personalities and some of them are very abrasive and operate mostly on self-interest or expedience, that doesn't mean I love every one of them. Dee-Ann Smith is one I find very dislikable and I don't care about her romance. It's not the bitch factor, it's the cold self-interest and expedience that motivates her actions. I don't see why the hero, Ric, fell in love with her at first sight and then stayed in love throughout the crap she pulled in previous books as well as in this one.Still, I finished the book and moved on the the next one. This is one of the most hilarious books I have read in a long time. I had so many favorite parts and the fact that I enjoyed so many of the things that Dee-Ann gets away with must say something about my personality. When I first realized that Ric intended to chase after Dee-Ann, I thought he might be too much of a "good guy" for her but quickly realized that he has as much of a mean streak as she does, maybe even more so. I finished this book out in the audiobook version and had to stifle quite a few laughs at work. This is a definite must-read!
