I love when picture books show our moods in such a creative tangible way. Big Rabbit has a mood. A large, hairy, fun killing bad mood that follows him around all day, tainting everything he does or thinks. We have all experienced similar days so the story is very relatable and funny. Kids will love it! Also, a wonderful read-aloud book that will allow the reader to showcase their many silly faces and voice changeups. My 2 preschoolers both enjoyed this book, and requested that it be reread to them. SPOILERS:The "disgusting" bad mood putting his boogers on Rabbit's carpet seemed to really get their attention! I liked how Rabbit was working on a way to get rid of his bad mood on his own at the end, even though the ending of a surprise bday party seemed a bit disjointed. [I've never liked surprise bday parties where you first neglect a person to later surprise them though anyways]. Anyway the book helped us start a conversation around having a bad mood, and finding ways to make ourselves feel better. I would recommend this one.
What do You think about Big Rabbit's Bad Mood (2009)?
Fun! As someone who can get very cranky, I love this story!
