Wow, this book surprised me in the BEST possible way. I feared reading a ‘period’ piece, wondering if I would get a melancholy ending with a wistful ‘what might have been’ ever after since its well -known that past generations are even less tolerant of gay men than people today. This story was so simply but perfectly written that it really touched a chord with me. I was drawn in and mesmerized right from the first page, and experienced the forgotten sensation of being so completely absorbed in a book that I just couldn’t put it down. The last few books I read had a hard time holding my attention so this was a sweet reminder of why I love to read. This author has a serious new fan, I absolutely hope to read more from her! So it's a well documented fact (I think prior comments on the internet count as documents) that I'm a huge Anyta Sunday fan, so it's no shock I really liked this story. There is just something so sweet, yet sad, yet happy about this. Yes it's short, but this is a wonderful example of how you tell a touching story in just the right amount of words. This is a must read. Quite beautiful and wonderful.
What do You think about Bird Meets Cage (2014)?
Bittersweet and lovely. Heartbreaking and hopeful of second chances.
