Unlikely friends Bird and Squirrel embark on a journey while trying to outwit and outrun a mean, old cat. Squirrel reminded me a bit of Scaredy Squirrel in his hyperactive behavior and worrywart planning ahead. Bird is a bit like many an optimistic, rainy-days-are-far-away characters that populate Aesop's fables. Together they balance each other out and grow as individuals and friends. Action, humor, and vivid digital artwork all combine for a cartoony ride that I recommend for grades 1-3+. Imagine SpongeBob Square-Pants and Scaredy Squirrel migrating south together for the winter and you have the adventures of Bird and Squirrel. This is an absolutely hysterical graphic novel that even the most reluctant readers will want to read again and again. Written at a second grade reading level, yet this books interest level will appeal to any age. James Burks is a writer who excels at making reading fun!
Elementary kids will like this book. Fun story about a squirrel, a bird, and a cat.

Cute comic! Bird & Squirrel are best friends, and that cat is one pesky feline.

The bird reminds me of Mo Willems Pigeon books. Cute story.
