Die Eismark wird durch einen alten und mächtigen Feind bedroht. Die Lage ist äußerst gefährlich. Die einzige Chance zur Rettung liegt in den Kräften von Königin Thirrins Kindern. Der 14 jährige Sharley wird ausgesandt um im Süden weitere Verbündeten zu gewinnen. Nach vielen Abenteuern kehrt er mit neuen Freunden nach Hause zurück, um in die längst entbrannte Schlacht einzugreifen. Doch der Gegner verfügt über furchtbare Waffen.Meine Meinung zum Buch: Das 2 Band von Die Herrscherin der Eismark kann richtig gut mit dem ersten mit halten. Zum Schluss konnte ich das Buch gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen, da ich nur wissen wollte wie die Schlacht aus geht. Das Buch hat einen guten Schreibstill und liest aus verschiedenen Personen. Bei Medea spürt man den regelrechten den Hass auf ihrer Familie beim lesen. Aber auch die Gegenden sind wieder super beschrieben z.B. die Wüste, Venezia und noch viele andere Gegenden die das Buch für mich so besonders machen.Das Cover:Gefällt mir richtig gut. Oberhalb auf der Überschrift sieht man ein Feuer, die Schrift glitzert und passt gut zu der Klinge. Im Hintergrund sieht man Prinz Charlmange (Sharley) die Hauptperson der Geschichte mit einer großen Armee. Wenn man hinten auf dem Buch schaut sieht man sogar ganz leicht einen Krieger der auf einem Zebra reitet. Die Wüste sieht auch toll aus und passt perfekt zum dunkel roten Hintergrund.Die Personen:Königin Thirrin: Thirrin ist jetzt 30 Jahre alt. Sie ist mit dem Hexenvater Oskan zusammen. Sie evakuiert ein Teil der Bevölkerung gegen den Krieg. Sie liebt Ihre 5 Kinder Eodred, Cerdic, Charlmange, Cressida und Medea.Oskan Hexenvater: Ist mit Thirrin zusammen. Er hat jetzt stärkere Zauberkräfte und Unterrichtet seine Tochter Medea die einzige der Kinder die auch Zauberkräfte besitzt. Im Kampf gegen die Polypontier heilt er die Verletzte Soldaten.Eodred & Cerdic: Sie sind Zwillinge und 16 Jahre alt. Sind immer zu späße haben. Sie sind die lautesten in der Familie und machen gute Stimmungen. Cerdic fällt im Kampf gegen die Schlacht von den Polypontier. Cedric und Eodred sind gerne zusammen mit ihren Kavalieren.Charlmange: Ist das nesthäckchen in der Familie und wird von seinen Eltern sehr geliebt. Bei einer Seuche wird er sehr schwer krank und humpelt seit dem mit seinem Fuß. Er kann leider nicht kämpfen in der Familie und wird ins Exil geschickt. Später im Wüstenreich wird er doch noch zum größten Krieger.Cressida: Sie ist die Erbin von Thirrin und hat die Eigenschaften von Thirrin. Sie möchte immer alles verbessern was die Zwillinge machen. Sie ist eine tolle Kriegerin und half ihrer Mutter als sie in der schlacht in großen Schwierigkeiten gerät.Medea. Ist die einzige in der Familie die die Fähigkeiten von ihrem Vater geerbt hat. Die Menschen in ihrer Umgebung möchten immer von Ihr Flüchten da sie sich komisch verhält. Sie hegt einen großen Hass auf ihrer Familie da sie nicht so geliebt wird wie Charlmange. Sie ist an den Tod von Cerdic und viele anderen Soldaten schuldig. Sie begibt sich ins dunkel und wird dort von ihrem Vater verbannt.Fazit:Das Buch ist absolut lesenwert. Zu dem Buch gibt es noch einen 3 Band das nur auf Englisch erschien und " The Last Battle of the Icemark" heißt. Wenn man die Bücher liest hat man einfach nur lust weiterzulesen.
This one took me a while to finish this one, but it was just as good as the first one, at some points even better! In this book, you are introduced to Thirrin's son, Sharly, and I think I might like him even more than I liked Thirrin in the first book! Excited to see if there is another book, although I really think the series has ended. Who knows? Here were some of my favorite quotes: ¨ 'That's not what I meant Sharly, and you know it,' Cressida answered sharply, 'Not all warriors carry swords and shields.' ¨¨ 'Sharly, wait! Give me a hand! This cat's so heavy-- oh, my gosh*! No! How can you smell like that and live? Sharly, help!'/ An already distant voice floated back into his room. 'Sorry, can't stop. I value my nostrils.' ¨¨ Kids spent their lives expecting to act differently when they grew up, but perhaps they were wasting their time. Nothing changed but the body; the mind stayed much the same.¨ ¨ 'Those we love don't die-- only their bodies break down or get broken. But the real bit of them lives on forever.' ¨ ¨ They parted cheerfully, neither of them realizing this was the first day of a friendship that would span the years and would grow up and grow old as they did. But as Eodred finally closed the door on his new friend's retreating back, he smiled. Suddenly, the world had lightened, suddenly the sun was warm again, and he knew there were things worth fighting for.¨
What do You think about Blade Of Fire (2007)?
The Blade of fire is a really entertaining book. I really liked it. It has a very interesting story to tell. It is the second time that General Bellorum attacks Icemark and this time the main protagonist is Sharley, a fourteen year old boy who has a weak foot and cannot fight. The book shows his adventure as he travels south allong with the Icemark women and children. I like how the book projects the importance of friendship as well as the different feuds between brothers and sisters which are shown through Medea. It is also really interesting to see how Sharley's character transforms. It has many good moments and at points you find yourself laughing along with the characters. The battles are excellent once again, continuing from the first book of the series and this time there are three Bellorums that are equally evil and entertaining, giving more interest to the Polypontian chapters. Overall, I think you should read this book and I definitely suggest it.

This is a sequel to Cry Of The Icemark. It takes place 20 years after the first book, when the teenage Thirrin from book 1 is now a grown woman, queen, and mother to 5 teenagers. The main focus of this book is 14 year old Charlemagne ("Sharley"), who because of a disabled leg is the family pet and not a warrior like everyone else he knows. War comes to the Icemark again when bad guy Bellorum decides to get revenge on this puny kingdom that defeated him 20 years earlier. I really liked this book even more than the first one, because there is more character development, more humor (smelly cats and ravenous leopards, oh my!), and more magic. Lots of battle action just like the first one. Plus a very interesting parallel-universe look at Arab culture, Italian culture, African culture, etc. This takes place in a fantasy world but it's easy to see what everyday Earth cultures he pulled from in creating it.

The first book of the Icemark Chronicles to me has been a great book, and the second one, which is this one, I have to admit is once again a thrilling book, grabbing your attention and putting you off to the edge of your seats. One part that showed this a lot was this one: "Thirrin sagged down and leaned heavily against her sword. 'My friends, we must stand against an enemy we cannot fight.' She turned to Oskan, who stood, seemingly deep in thought, at the foot of banner. 'It's time we say our good-byes.'" (pg. 549 & 550) This was the most suspenseful part of the book when Thirrin, and her army with allies, were at the final point of war and struggle. Oskan, who was her husband, was thinking of something very pensively. At this moment, they were wondering if they could make it through the last battle. I could not bear to keep reading, but something told me that I should see the true result. Suspense grew throughout the story as the book made me wonder if Charlemagne- Thirrin's son who was in exile- would be able to come to rescue not only his family and his mother's army, but to help save the whole land of Icemark. At this point Icemark was being attacked by Scopio Bellorum's army and his secret weapon; and the vastness of Bellorum's army was outnumbering and overpowering the little group of defenders. To make that worse, a person from the House of Lindshield was planning a sinister scheme that could take all hopes away from what was present. I could not stop reading not even for a minute, for I was worrying about the possibility of the so many problems and horrors there could be. This book has a very dramatic story line, and at almost every point is there spine-chilling event that takes place.
