***the following spoilers probably won't ruin the book for you but they are there so be warned*****Alright, I had to think about this a bit before writing a review. I have been searching for a new UF series since I got bored with Katie daniels 4 books in. I'm giving this book 2 stars for a few reasons,Love interest- Damon. Soo sexy I guess and a cat except a secret type of cat were that you can't tell by looking at him, I guess there's some significance but what happens is, like a lot of the book, there are just these unexplained elements and it felt like the author was trying to generate intrigue in the laziest way possible. ANYWAY, I was genuinely excited for Damon to stop being a dick but the transition felt so unrealistic (I didn't believe it) and for fucks sake they didn't even talk about the bonding. He was straight up abusive and annoying and his pet names for her make me want to puke, I didn't feel a genuine relationship at all between them.Jude- Kit talks about how sexy he is and he's in her dreams and he wants her then he literally drowns her in order to keep her? I mean, she'd be dead?!? Kit- I felt like she had such a good back story and I wasn't as annoyed by her constant state of injury as much as some reviewers, but I was confused as to how she could jump off a tower and survive but apparently almost not survive the other things that happened. Gah I wish Damon wasn't such a piece of work and Jude didn't go psychotic controomg too because I think Kit had a chance for a really great story.Confession time, I read reviews for the rest of the books and decided not to continue because of the issues I have with Damon and apparently they're only going to get worse. I wish that strong heroes didn't have to physically abuse the women they end up with( to prove that they are strong ladies? Or to to establish their place as alphas?) for everyone pissed about the Kate daniels comparisons, I disctinctly remember curran strangling a certain someone too...actually now that I think about it, a lot of my annoyance with their relationship (kd and curran) parallels Damon and Kits. I actually stopped with the KD series after kate puts up with currans bullshit excuse for the whole Lorelei situation. Blade Song is book one in the Colbana Files series by JC Daniels and follows half-human-half-Amazon Kit Colbana on her adventures as a PI in a town overrun by supernaturals. When the Alpha of the cat wereanimals tries to hire Kit to find her missing nephew, she's teamed up with Damon, a hellion with claws. The two constantly butt heads, but Kit's actually pretty good at her job, despite Damon's interference. When they go after the kid, Kit finds out that this is a much bigger scheme than just one missing cat shifter. This is a hunting ground, and she may be next.I liked Kit because she's a kick-butt, take-no-slack kind of character. Pairing her with Damon actually makes them stronger, if they can get over themselves. And Kit's got a history that could make even the strongest tough-man flinch, if she's willing to share.
What do You think about Blade Song (2012)?
How did I not know about this series before?
