This was the first of Hooper's books that was, to me, repetitive. Some of the phrasing, explanations, dialogue was repeated numerous times. And this is the first book that really REQUIRES the reader to have read the previous book in the trilogy. Can this book stand alone? Probably. Is the storyline about a cult leader intriguing? Yes. But the depth of evil and the nuances in the story will simply not be found unless the reader reads Blood Dreams first. And the child Ruby in this book, and the Haven character Tessa are incredibly well written, strong characters. Even if they don't realize it themselves....at first... Psychics, visions and loads of paranormal energy! This one is a doozy from Kay Hooper's collection. She tops it off with a great etching of her characters. Tessa and Sawyer are the mainstays of this roller coaster ride while Noah Bishop provides the connections to the case wherever needed. Samuel's secrets of his past are the crackling moments in the story. Read on only if you love the mysterious. I just can't wait to get my hands on another of Bishop's novels. In this one, Kay Hooper definitely knows what to do!
