Esperanza Salvacion, or Hope, as she likes to be called, is a young Colombian escort. When Lia, a vampire that Hope services realizes that she’s a telepath, she takes Hope to her master, Enrique, hoping that he’ll either kill Hope himself or allow her to do it. Instead Enrique takes Hope into his business and his bed, making her a bloodslave. Her life seems to turn for the better until Enrique leaves on a business trip and Hope is left with Lia. Bloodslave can be read as a stand-alone novel, as there are entirely new characters separate from The Nightlife Series. Hope, although an escort, is extremely likeable because she is a fighter and survivor. No matter what happens to her she fights through it rather than giving up. I found it a nice change up that the reader initially thinks that Lia and Hope are going to be the main couple in the novel, yet Luedke throws a twist into things when Enrique is brought into the picture. I, as a reader, hope to see Enrique and Hope/Esperanza’s story continue with their own series of books. Travis Luedke continues to impress the reader with his lustful vampires and masterful writing of their world. The author provided me a free copy of this book. My review is freely given. She's been living in Spanish Harlem New York, working as an escort and sometimes human lie detector for the drug cartel until one of her dates forces Hope to leave with her because Hope now knows too much about her.Lia takes Hope home to her Master where Enrique makes her his Bloodslave. It's not too bad a life for Hope. He's treated her fairly well. Until he has to leave for several days on a business trip and he leaves her alone with the psycho bitch, Lia. Lia has been planning revenge on Hope for all this time for taking Enrique away from her. She sells Hope back to the cartel where Hope is beaten and raped for the rest of the time Enrique is away. But she underestimates Hopes will to survive. And her love for Enrique. Hope escapes and returns to Enrique.Hope was a truly strong, kick-ass woman. She learned at an early age how to adapt and overcome to survive just about anything life threw at her. And although Enrique had quite a few dumbass moments, he grew on me.
