I couldn't wait to get my hands on the 3rd book in The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater. As with the 2 previous titles, I listened to the audiobook. With the first book, I didn't like Will Patton's narration at all. With this one, I thought he was obviously the perfect choice for a narrator! Funny how things change. (His Jesse Ditley is wonderful--my favorite character in the book!).It had been quite awhile since I'd read the previous book, so the start of this one was a bit slow for me as I tried to recollect the events of the earlier books. Why don't authors give a brief synopsis at the beginning of their books in series anymore? (Ooh, poor grammar there--sorry!)Once I did remember where things had left off, I was completely caught up in this book! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it is completely a setup for the next book, instead of a story in and of itself that just happens to be part of a series (see Harry Potter!).We finally learn more about Greenmantle--who'd have guessed he had a wife!? The character balance is much more equal in this book than in the others. If you enjoyed the first 2 books, you will definitely want to read this one! Book 3 of the Raven CycleI really like this series, but this book felt like a bridge to the next book. (It suffers from 2nd book syndrome even though it is the 3rd book.) I would have preferred more action, but am still waiting breathlessly for the next book in the series. You definitely should read the first two books in this series before this one. I regretted not rereading them, because it took me a little while to remember what/why things were happening. It jumped right in where book 2 left off, without a whole lot of recap.
