I’ve been up half the night studying for an interview at Westlake’s law firm. I’ve worked my ass off there for two years trying to fit in but nothing I do will get me a promotion or make me a non-equity partner. I sent in my credentials directly to Ross Westlake and asked for an interview and he has agreed to see me.
I’ve watched the clock enough and it’s time to get up and shower. I suck in a large breath before sitting down for a cup of coffee. My roommate Zoey is still sleeping she worked late at the gallery getting ready for the showing of a client’s paintings. It’s time to have a quiet moment before I meet the notorious bad boy and owner of the firm.
After coffee I’m too wound up to eat and too nervous. This is my chance to make up for all the time I didn’t date and all the time I turned down a date because I had to work on weekends. Tossing away eight years seeking a law degree and then marry someone who couldn’t or wouldn’t help me pay for those years of going to law school was not an option.
