This is the sequel to Body Magic and we see a lot of Simon and Gray in this – maybe even more than Rocky and Cade. Simon and Gray are really hammering out their relationship and helping Simon prepare for his full powers.Simon waffles back and forth between wanting to trust his love for Gray but also wanting to be a good and independent wizard, separate from the pack and Gray. His uncle helps him work through his emotional issues and his magickal issues as they prepare for his ceremony. But… there is discord and someone has infiltrated the pack – spying on the forbidden mating between shifter and wizard. When war breaks out there are people going to be hurt and Simon has to choose his side.Meanwhile, as almost a side note, Cade and Rocky start a relationship only to be stopped cold when Cade realizes that Rocky was sent there to spy on the pack. Rocky is a very conflicted character and he needs someone as solid as Cade to help him get over his issues. Cade is shocked at first but with a minimum of fuss the two work out that Rocky has loyalty to the pack and the pair make a tentative agreement to work on a relationship together.**Overall, this was a great second book in terms of seeing Gray and Simon develop more fully as a couple. I would have loved to see more of Rocky and Cade as they were equally engaging characters that didn’t get much page time.I’m looking forward to the next two installments!Audio:Robert Davis does a really nice job with the narration. Nothing too over the top but very clear and he tries to differentiate all the different characters’ voices.I’m looking forward to his narrations in the upcoming books as well.I give both the book and the audiobook 4 of 5 hearts. Something about reading about Rocky made me hesitant about second of the series. So after dragging my feet for a few hours I tentatively started reading. At first I was thinking, ok so my pause may have been warranted.I actually enjoyed this almost as much as the first one. It's actually not JUST about Rocky, it's about the mate development, pack relations a bit, and a skate around of Cade and Rocky's attraction. Which, btw took me by surprise when they finally DO something, although looking back it makes more sense now.Suffice to say there is a lot going on in differing areas. Some may not like this because the blurb more implies this is Rocky and Cade's show, while they share the spotlight with Simon and Gray. The title however doesn't reflect that to me, just that this world will be concentrating on another aspect of magic. For me, in this particular book, I didn't feel cheated on Rocky and Cade's behalf (as would be the norm). I have not yet read the blurb for #3.. may be that I just skip it.. and put lingering doubts to the back and hopefully enjoy the ride...
